Critical operations with satellite technology

Guillermo Santos, CEO of AXESS Mexico talks about the deployment of satellite connectivity in Mexico.

Satellite technology allows communication and Internet to reach places where terrestrial networks do not

AXESS is a leading company in satellite technology and communication solutions in Latin America created in 2003 in Bogotá, Colombia. In 2012, it began operations in Mexico to provide satellite coverage throughout the national territory as a way of supporting critical operations in different sectors of the economy such as retail, fuel, energy, financial and government.

Satellite technology allows the network, communication and Internet service to reach places where terrestrial networks do not have coverage. AXESS has a solid infrastructure recognized by the World Teleport Association (WTA) as one of the best teleports in Latin America and amongst the best teleports in the world, with a presence in Mexico, Colombia, Chile, Ecuador, Peru, Venezuela and Central America.

Guillermo Santos, director of AXESS Mexico, spoke with My Press about the main solutions and services offered by our company. The most popular said, are the “fixed solutions” both for main networks and backup installations and stressed the importance of the satellite connection because it allows to reach places where terrestrial connections do not work.

“We help companies grow organically with the speed they need in rural areas or critical operations, that is, we help service provider companies where you cannot lose the capacity to transmit data, a critical problem for your business, as when the main networks fail or cannot reach where they operate, they have a backup network like the one provided by AXESS”, Santos said.

Focused 100 percent on satellite connectivity, we have developed the experience necessary to be the best in offering this service. Within AXESS’s portfolio of services, one of the most interesting is that of cellular backhaul. This technology allows cellular operators to expand their coverage nationwide, without high investments in infrastructure and with exceptional service levels such as 4G LTE. This is installed on solid satellite channels and with latency levels (response speed) that adjust to customer service expectations and the growing demand for data capacity and use.

“Another type of service that we provide is mobile solutions, for those vehicles or mobile units that need to be in communication while they are moving like a train, trucks, ships, or solutions that can be deployed in emergency issues where you arrive in a specific vehicle and an antenna is automatically installed to achieve communication”, said Guillermo Santos. Connecting the most remote regions of Mexico as a form of support for critical operations is possible thanks to the satellite communication and technology solutions that AXESS is able to provide in a cost-efficient manner, with levels of service that little or nothing the traditional technologies can compete with.  Special portable connectivity solutions for the government and communication media sectors allow to carry a compact satellite portable device in a practical way, to be installed automatically in any environment.
