The World Teleport Association (WTA), for its acronym in English, was founded in the year 1985 with the aim of strengthening, highlighting and seeking constant innovations in the satellite communications sector around the world. In the fulfillment of this mission, year after year this association publishes the “Top Teleports operators” aimed at rewarding the most innovative multinational, independent companies, satellite operators, fiber and technology providers in the operation of teleports in the five continents.

These classifications are based on total revenues from all sources and annual growth, which rate companies from different countries such as the United States, Germany, Canada and others.

The 2018 ranking again positioned AXESS, as a leader in satellite solutions in Latin America, as the number 1 company in Latin America, ranking 10th, amongst the 15 most innovative teleport operator companies in the world.

But what are teleports?

Teleports are a terrestrial station or earth station for telecommunications and the retransmission of different television, voice and data services via satellite globally. These stations facilitate the access of the transponders of the orbiting antennas located approximately 36,200 kilometers above the equator line.

Thanks to the fact that these stations have access to satellite antennas, access to different mobile and everyday technologies such as microwaves gets bigger and faster.
